The students Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh railway as part of the nationwide ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme.

On Monday (July 8) at 1.30 pm, the agitating students blocked the Jamalpur-bound “Jamalpur Express” train in the area adjacent to Jabbarer Mor in BAU.

Earlier at 12:30 PM, students organized a protest march. Then the students blocked the railway.

During this time, the students announced a single-point demand.

They said, “From today, we will uphold a single-point agenda: the elimination of irrational and discriminatory quotas in all grades of government jobs. The quota system must be reformed by passing a law in Parliament to ensure fairness for underprivileged and special-needs groups as outlined in the Constitution.”
