Students of BAU Hold Mass March and Submit Memorandum
Staff Correspondent:
In solidarity with the nationwide student movement demanding quota reform, students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Sunday organized a mass march and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh.
The march began at 11:30 AM from the university’s Mukto Moncho in front of the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium.
Students traversed several key locations, including the university’s 13 residential halls, the K.R. Market, and various important roads.
After the march concluded, a delegation of protesting students submitted the memorandum to Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Mymensingh Dider-E-Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury at 3 PM, requesting that it be forwarded to the Honorable President.
Speaking on behalf of the protesting students, Mazharul Islam Tushar stated, “Many are trying to divert the legitimate demand for quota reform by the students of Bangladesh. Therefore, today’s mass march and memorandum submission to the Honorable President have been conducted in all universities and colleges across the country.”
Another student, Md. Rakib Gazi, added, “We believe that the police cases will be withdrawn promptly, and a permanent solution to the quota system will be achieved by passing a law in parliament to bring the quota for the underprivileged groups, as described in the constitution, to a logical level. Only then will we leave the streets and return to our studies.”
